Shipping and Delivery Policy

Boruch’s Sourdough Bakehouse, operated by POLIATZKY BAKEHOUSE LLC, prepares fresh, perishable baked goods. Please review this policy before placing an order.

Products Suitable for Shipping

Shipping is best suited for products that can withstand normal handling during transportation, including:

  • Sourdough breads
  • Challah
  • Bagels
  • Crackers
  • Other firm baked goods specifically identified as available for shipping

Certain products are naturally fragile and may break, crumble, become compressed, or lose their original appearance during shipping. These products may include:

  • Cookies
  • Muffins
  • Cakes
  • Pastries
  • Soft or decorated baked goods

When fragile products are offered for shipping, customers acknowledge that some cosmetic damage or breakage may occur during normal transportation. Ordinary breakage, crumbling, compression, or movement of a fragile product during shipping is not considered a product defect and does not automatically qualify for a refund or replacement.

We package all orders with reasonable care, but customers who require fragile products to arrive in perfect condition should select local pickup or delivery when available.

Order Processing

Our products are prepared fresh. Processing and shipping schedules may depend on:

  • The product ordered
  • Our baking schedule
  • The day the order is placed
  • Weekends and holidays
  • Product availability
  • Weather or other circumstances outside our control

Estimated shipping or fulfillment information may be displayed on the product page, during checkout, or in the order confirmation. Shipping estimates begin after the order has been prepared and transferred to the carrier.

Placing an order does not guarantee delivery by a particular date unless we have expressly confirmed that date in writing.

Shipping Charges

Shipping charges are calculated and displayed during checkout. Charges may be based on the destination, package size, package weight, selected service, and carrier rates.

Customers must review and approve all shipping charges before completing their purchase.

Carrier Delivery Times

Delivery dates provided by USPS, UPS, FedEx, or another carrier are estimates unless the carrier specifically guarantees the service.

Once an order has been transferred to the shipping carrier, Boruch’s Sourdough Bakehouse is not responsible for delays caused by the carrier, including delays caused by:

  • Postal or carrier disruptions
  • Weather
  • Holidays
  • High shipping volume
  • Transportation problems
  • Incorrect carrier routing
  • Government actions
  • Natural disasters
  • Other circumstances outside our control

Although we cannot control a shipment after it has been accepted by the carrier, we will make a reasonable effort to assist customers by reviewing tracking information, contacting the carrier when appropriate, and helping with an available carrier claim.

A carrier delay alone does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund, replacement, or reimbursement.

Perishable Products and Delayed Shipments

Our products are freshly baked and have a limited shelf life. Customers accept the normal risks associated with shipping fresh food products.

We are not responsible for changes in freshness, texture, appearance, or quality caused solely by a carrier delay or extended transportation time outside our control. However, customers should contact us promptly if an order experiences a significant delay or arrives in an unacceptable condition. We will review each situation individually and make a reasonable effort to help.

Tracking Information

When tracking is available, it will be sent to the email address or telephone number provided with the order.

Customers are responsible for monitoring their tracking information and arranging for the package to be received promptly. Fresh baked goods should not remain outdoors, in a mailbox, in direct sunlight, or in extreme heat or cold longer than necessary.

Correct Shipping Address

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.

Before submitting an order, please confirm:

  • Recipient’s full name
  • Street address
  • Apartment, suite, or unit number
  • City, state, and ZIP code
  • Telephone number and email address

We are not responsible for delays, failed deliveries, returned packages, or lost packages caused by an incorrect or incomplete address supplied by the customer.

When a package is returned because of an incorrect address, refusal, failure to collect the package, or recipient unavailability, additional shipping charges may apply. Because the products are perishable, we may not be able to reship the original products.

If the shipping error was caused by Boruch’s Sourdough Bakehouse, we will provide an appropriate resolution.

Packages Marked as Delivered

When tracking shows that a package was delivered but the customer cannot locate it, the customer should:

  1. Check all entrances, mail areas, and safe delivery locations.
  2. Ask household members, neighbors, or building staff.
  3. Contact the shipping carrier.
  4. Email us promptly with the order number and tracking information.

We will make a reasonable effort to assist with the carrier investigation. However, we are not responsible for packages that are lost or stolen after the carrier confirms delivery to the address provided by the customer.

Damaged Shipping Boxes

If the exterior shipping box arrives severely damaged, opened, wet, crushed, or otherwise compromised, contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

Please include:

  • Your name
  • Order number
  • Photographs of the shipping box
  • Photographs of the shipping label
  • Photographs of the affected products
  • A description of the problem

Please retain the products and all original packaging until the matter has been reviewed. Documentation may be required for a carrier claim.

Missing or Incorrect Products

Contact us within 48 hours of delivery if:

  • An ordered item is missing.
  • You received the wrong product.
  • The package contains a significant packing error.
  • A non-fragile product was seriously damaged because of an apparent packaging or handling problem.

After reviewing the circumstances, we may offer a replacement, store credit, partial refund, full refund, or assistance with a carrier claim.

Fragile Products

Cookies, muffins, pastries, cakes, and similar baked goods are more vulnerable to damage during shipping than breads and bagels.

When a customer chooses to have a fragile product shipped:

  • The product is shipped at the customer’s acknowledgment of the risk.
  • Minor or moderate breakage may occur.
  • The product may shift, crumble, flatten, or lose its original appearance.
  • Cosmetic damage does not necessarily make the product unsafe or unusable.
  • Ordinary shipping-related breakage is generally not refundable.

This limitation does not apply when we send the wrong item, omit an item, make a material packing error, or otherwise fail to fulfill the order properly.

Local Pickup or Delivery

Local pickup or local delivery, when available, is recommended for fragile products, special orders, decorated products, and orders needed for a particular event or date.

Pickup and delivery options, fees, locations, and availability will be displayed during checkout or arranged directly with the customer.
